Everyone Loves A Man in a Grey Tin Can

Brent Schoonover has impeccable taste. He's a self-confessed Kirby fanatic, as well as a fan of the original, classic grey-tin-can Iron Man design. And really, what's not to like about that? And what's not to like about this spectacular illustration, which really captures the energy and excitement of those early Iron Man appearances? When I saw this submission, I thought my eyeballs were gonna pop outta my head -- its that cool.

Aside from working as an illustrator, Brent has also drawn the comic Horrorwood for Ape Entertainment and also has another series coming up called Astronaut Dad. Check out his work for yourself -- its chock full of old-school charm.

Iron Man, well Boy...

The award-winning Bryan Ballinger submitted this awesome 3d version of Iron Boy (or is it Iron Lad - or is he part of the Metal Men? I get confused)! Bryan has worked for Microsoft, Nintendo and Big Idea - the guys behind Veggie Tales. Be sure to check out his blog here for a step-by-step "making of" Iron Boy. Bryan is a man of many talents and his website showcases all of them. Thanks for the great submission.

Iron Pulp

With a website like Super Robot Monster, who better to do a great Iron Man pin-up than Paul Conrad. His take on Tony is to make him into a 1930's pulp hero in the vein of the Shadow and the Spider - with a little bit of the Rocketeer. Paul has been featured on Drawn, a great website for Illustrators.
